craftfest: made in canada matters

It’s less than two weeks til one of the biggest handmade events Ottawa’s ever seen: CRAFTFEST! To celebrate Canada 150, two of my fave locals have been working hard to bring you 15 unforgettable days showcasing the capital’s best creatives and modern crafters.

CRAFTFEST 2017

Because they firmly believe that #MadeInCanadaMatters, my very good pals at Maker House and Freewheeling Craft have created a marathon makers’ market.

From June 11-25 at Zibi on Albert Island, visit CRAFTFEST to shop handmade goods in the pop-up shop, meet the makers at the weekend markets, take a DIY workshop, sip artisanal drinks, and enjoy some craft beer.

Sounds pretty darn good right? Wanna know more? Here’s the rundown:

CRAFTFEST Pop-up Shop

For 15 days at CRAFTFEST, The Stores at Zibi will be home to a curated pop-up shop showcasing over 100 local makers and their handcrafted goods. Come learn about the local craft community, do some shopping, and support local creative entrepreneurs. The pop-up VENDOR list is now live so go check it out!

CRAFTFEST Weekend Market

For two full weekends at CRAFTFEST (June 17-18 and June 24-25), the courtyard at Zibi will be home to an outdoor weekend market featuring local goods and artisan food and drink. With the Ottawa River and the historic Zibi Canada buildings as the backdrop, I’m betting you’ll be inspired to shop local learn about your local creative community. The weekend market VENDOR list is live and you can check it out here!

CRAFTFEST Workshops

CRAFTFEST has partnered with Wallack's craft supply store to bring you a series of workshops hosted by local creative entrepreneurs. That means you can try your hand at being a maker! They’re offering everything from woodworking to weaving to chalk painting to screen printing to calligraphy, and more.

I’ve tried calligraphy and it’s super tough! Massive respect to Becca of The Happy Ever Crafter: mad skills. CRAFTFEST Workshop spaces are extremely limited so book your spot now!
