ottawa craft beer run

PEEPS. There's less than a month til the Ottawa Craft Beer Run! On Saturday June 17th, join your fellow local beer lovers for a sudsy 5k run along the beautiful Rideau Canal. It's a gorgeous out and back course that finishes with a delicious craft beer back at Lansdowne Park!

The race is part of the Ottawa Craft Beer Festival, and your race registration gets you in to ALL the fun ALL weekend long from June 16-18 at Lansdowne. Essentially your race bib is your all-access pass to the whole weekend!

If you’re curious about running but intimidated our city’s bigger races like Ottawa Race Weekend and the Army Run -- I feel you, running with 20,000 others isn't everyone's jam -- the Ottawa Craft Beer Run is a perfect pressure-free intro to racing.

You’ll have a bib, a chip timer, and a set course, but this run is more about having a blast with your pals than crushing your PB. Although you can do that too: check out my pal JP on the far right in the Iron North tank at last year's start line. He's frigging fast!

Individual registration is $65 per person, and team registration is $55 per person if you’ve got four people or more. And they’ve put together the sudsiest race kit you've ever seen:

  • Entry into the 5k race

  • An Ottawa Craft Beer Run shirt

  • A finisher’s medal (hint: it's a bottle opener!!)

  • A finisher’s beer from Beau’s All Natural Brewing Co.

  • A festival beer glass

  • A full weekend pass to the Ottawa Craft Beer Festival

Like I said, BEST. Head to their site and register! In Iron North speak (hey there Sam and Jenna!) I've already made my person:

Especially if you've got pre-race jitters, making your person is a great way to ensure you've got everything you need before race day. So go find your favourite sports bra, your lucky shorts, and your tried-and-true sneakers well before race day.

By having all your favourite gear ready to go, you'll set yourself up for success on that 5k. My pal T-Rex did exactly that and ran a great race last year:

Best thing about this race? Aside from the amazing local beers, you’ll be supporting the Parkdale Food Centre. It's part of the Ottawa Food Bank’s distribution network, serving the Hintonburg, Mechanicsville, Civic Hospital and Wellington Village neighbourhoods.

Parkdale Food Centre is a not-for-profit, volunteer- run organization that provides emergency food aid to over 750 individuals and families in need each month. It's funded in part by the City of Ottawa and local churches, with additional donations provided by individuals and local businesses. It also runs additional programs such as Cooking Workshops and Collective Kitchen. Learn more on their site!

So join me for a run, a beer, and let’s celebrate some charities doing great work in our community. And since I love a good giveaway, here’s a chance to win your way in!

WIN your way in!

Head to my Instagram feed because I'm giving away TWO race bibs for the Ottawa Craft Beer Run!

That’s right: you and a friend/other half/whomever will win two free race registrations, which gets you tons of swag, craft beer, and two full weekend passes to the Ottawa Craft Beer Festival.

Just look at these folks having fun at last year's race. Don't you wanna to join them? Go enter right now!

More memories from last year:

JP crushed it!

This guy wore lederhosen. In 30+ degree heat.

And then we all had some cold ones. Thanks Beau's!

Cheers! Do you have a fave local beer! Let me know in the comments! xo
