the ottawa vintage clothing show (giveaway)

This Sunday one of Ottawa's most beloved events is coming to the Shaw Centre: the Ottawa Vintage Clothing Show. Since it first launched in 2012, this show has become *the place* to track down that elusive bottle of vintage Chanel perfume, those classic Salvatore Ferragamo bow pumps you've been lusting after, or even cocktail dresses and wedding gowns.

Last year was my first time checking out the show and I'm thrilled to be headed back this year. Those bow pumps will be mine! And the vintage perfume too. (Note: I blame Daly Beauty for my perfume obsession, her collection of rare and vintage perfumes is extraordinary).

Want to shop like it's 1959? Here's the scoop!

THE DEETS

When: Sunday November 8, 2015, 10:00am - 5:00pm

Where: The Shaw Centre, 55 Colonel By Drive

Cost: $10 per person, children under 12 get in free

What can you expect to find at the show? It may be called the vintage clothing show but you'll find much more than clothing. There will be oodles of vintage jewellery, handbags, shoes, hats, scarves, luggage, perfume, and last year I even found old postcards that had originally been sent as far back as the 1920s. So neat! The Ottawa Vintage Clothing Show has plenty for the guys too: I'm talking suits, ties, bowties, cufflinks, leather jackets, shoes, shaving tools, and loads more.

Tickets will go on sale at the Shaw Centre at 9:30am on the day of the show (no advance ticket sales). When it comes to vintage finds the early bird gets the worm, so don't sleep in!

MY TIPS FOR MAKING THE MOST OF THE SHOW

Getting there: Parking is available on-site at the Shaw Centre but it ain't cheap and will likely be packed. Hop on the bus instead! The Shaw Centre is located right on the Transitway so all major bus routes will get you there in a jiffy. Or, bundle up and walk or ride your bike!

How to pay for stuff: I'm told some vendors will be accepting accept credit and debit cards, but others will be cash-only. There will be ATMs on-site at the show but they do get quite busy, so plan ahead and bring some cash. Maybe you'll score those perfect shoes while other shoppers are in line at the ATM!

Dress strategically: Wear comfortable clothes you can change in and out of quickly, or wear something streamlined that will let you pull other things on over top. A few vendors have change rooms but others don't, so this way you'll be ready for anything. Don't let a cute but complicated OOTD slow you down at the show!
